This spring/summer season I had the great opportunity of photographing arena football team the Philadelphia Soul. I can't believe today is the last home game, time flies when you're having fun! It was a bit nerve wrecking at first since it was my first professional sports photography gig. One thing I learned about Philadelphia sports is that their fans are amazing. They are full of energy and full of "Soul" and I learned a lot from them as they are all extremely knowledgeable of the game. I would like to give a big THANK YOU to the Philadelphia Soul for giving me this great opportunity, the Wells Fargo Center event staff for the great hospitality all season, and of course a huge thank you to the players for providing the magic and the soul in front of the lens!

Hey Everyone,
I just want to let you know of an amazing event called the PA Burlesque Festival being held in my favorite town of Jim Thorpe on August 8-10. I love the breath taking town of Jim Thorpe and I love burlesque so for me it can't get better than this!! I admire the beauty, the talent and the class that these amazing women put on with each of their performance. The show on Friday will raise money for the preservation of the historic Opera House in Jim Thorpe and the Big Reveal show the following day will feature top burlesque acts. There will also be a Burlesque Bazaar with vendors featuring everything Burlesque and Pin Up. Make sure to visit the PA Burlesque website for more information and tickets. I would like to thank the wonderful Madame Corsetiere, master of ceremonies, for giving me the blessing of photographing this event. PURA VIDA to Costa Rica and all my Ticos who endured a nerve wrecking game today. Unfortunately we lost but we made history and we fought a great battle during every single World Cup games this year. We could not be destroyed during today's game and it came down to penalty kicks to keep us down but we went down with grace! We were the underdog and played with the best of the best without losing one game this year, a feat no one though we would ever accomplish but WE DID. We fought with great strength and dignity and I've never been so proud of my beautiful Costa Rica. "We didn't win the game but we won the respect of the world" "Somos Ticos Como Gallo Pinto" INVICTOS! When our family works year round to put on a good show at our WWII living history events we take pride in what we do because we love it. We also do it in honor of the brave men and women who fought for the allies and for the real heroes who are slowly fading away with time. Last week we were sitting around with a family member who fought during the battle of Ia Drang in Vietnam (for which the movie "We are Soldiers" was based) and he asked the great question of "why do you want to play war when the real thing is so horrible". Well, coming from his side who survived one of the worst battles in history I can understand and we do our living history events so that people will never forget what great strengths our soldiers endure and to keep an important moment in history alive for both adults who lived through that time and for the young generation who may not know much about it.
Our PALHA group recently received a letter forwarded to us by the organizers of the WWII Weekend in Reading from a visitor who was greatly pleased with our camp and impressions. An honorable mention like this is what makes our hard efforts worth it especially when the gratitude comes from a veteran. We strive for professionalism and we do a tremendous amount of research to educate the public. We love what we do because history is important. My husband, our three boys, the rest of our amazing PALHA members and myself work hard all year to bring a great impression to the biggest WWII weekend in our nation and when we receive letters like this and see the public having a great time at our camp we know we are doing our job right. For more information on our group please visit our website. If you missed the WWII weekend in Reading, PA this past June there is always next year. Please visit the Mid Atlantic Air Museum website for information on the WWII Weekend held every year in June. |
AuthorPlain and simple, I'm painfully the artsy type. I like to keep my mind occupied because it keeps me out of trouble. I love art, photography, music and the 1940's. Between art exhibits, photography projects, design work, developing and promoting my new upcoming line the "LuvSicks", dressing up in early 40's vintage clothing for WWII living history events and endlessly researching the 40's home front and women's fashion to help educate the audience, and dusting off my drum sticks once in a while, I am endlessly busy. In a nutshell I draw silly pictures, shoot pictures, and play dress-up. In a nutshell I guess I never grew up. In a nutshell I guess I'm just a nut! Archives
